Background
Anthropic has launched a new feature that allows users to access interactive apps directly within the Claude chatbot, strengthening its focus on enterprise and workplace use. The company announced the update on Monday, calling it a step toward faster and more visual ways of working inside AI tools.
With the new feature, Claude users can connect workplace apps such as Slack, Canva, Figma, Box, and Clay within the chatbot interface. A Salesforce integration is also expected soon. Once enabled, Claude can interact with logged-in versions of these services, allowing users to send Slack messages, create visual designs, generate charts, or access cloud files without leaving the chat window.
Anthropic said tasks like data analysis, design work, and project management improve when users combine visual tools with Claude’s intelligence. The company believes this setup helps teams work faster and iterate more efficiently than using separate tools.
The interactive apps feature is available to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers. Free users do not have access. Eligible users can activate the tools through Claude’s official app directory.
The system closely mirrors OpenAI’s app integration model, launched in October. Both platforms rely on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard introduced by Anthropic in 2024 to support secure and flexible AI integrations.
The apps will become more powerful when combined with Claude Cowork, Anthropic’s agent tool launched last week. Cowork allows users to assign complex, multi-step tasks using large datasets. In the future, Cowork could update files in Figma or pull data from Box, once app integration becomes available.
Anthropic also warned users to be cautious when granting permissions. The company advised limiting access to sensitive files and using dedicated folders to reduce risk.
