Jeep has revealed the 2026 Recon, an all-electric SUV starting at $65,000. The new model is a key part of the brand’s comeback plans and takes inspiration from the tough, off-road style of the Wrangler. Jeep first began developing the idea for an electric off-roader back in 2021.

The Recon made its debut ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show and carries the familiar traits that define Jeep’s off-road identity: a boxy silhouette, removable doors, an open-air roof, and a rear-mounted spare tire. Production is scheduled to begin early next year at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico.

Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf said the new EV shows how electrification can enhance the brand’s off-road performance. He highlighted instant torque, refined control, and a quieter driving experience as key advantages for adventure enthusiasts.

The Recon completes Jeep’s commitment to introducing four new or refreshed models within four months, following the updated Grand Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer, and the hybrid-only Cherokee. With dual electric motors generating 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque, the Recon delivers power on par with performance SUVs. However, its estimated 250-mile range falls short of several lower-priced EV competitors.

The new model enters the market at a time when EV sales have cooled and federal incentives have ended, a shift Jeep acknowledges will affect demand. Still, Broderdorf emphasized that the brand is focused on sustainable growth rather than chasing volume.

The Recon will be built alongside the Wagoneer S, Compass, and the new hybrid Cherokee as Stellantis adjusts its lineup to evolving market conditions. The launch comes as Jeep works to reverse several years of declining sales, aiming to rebuild momentum in the U.S. market.
