Background:
Keepmoat, one of the UK’s top housebuilders, has revealed plans to redevelop Alexandra Dock in Grimsby, giving a strong boost to local housing and the town’s economy. The £20 million project, which has received planning approval from North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC), will see the creation of 120 new all-electric homes and a modern, sustainable community in the town centre.
With NELC, Keepmoat will turn the site into a new neighbourhood with homes, green areas, and shops. Of the 120 homes planned, 54 will be affordable and offered for social rent in partnership with a local housing group.
Richard Gough, Operations Director at Keepmoat Yorkshire East, said the team is excited to move ahead with the Alexandra Dock project. He noted that the plan will bring new life to the area and make good use of unused land. Gough said Keepmoat is proud to build strong communities and that Grimsby is a great place with good amenities and transport links.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn, Cabinet Member for Housing at North East Lincolnshire Council, welcomed the decision, describing the development as a “key step towards transforming Grimsby’s future.” He added that through collaboration with Keepmoat and Homes England, the council continues to support projects that strengthen communities and encourage local growth.
Keepmoat is already active in North East Lincolnshire with its Cambridge Green project on the old Western School site, where it is building 318 new homes. The Alexandra Dock project is another step in its plan to build quality homes and boost Grimsby’s growth.
