5 Ways to keep your device safe on your travels

Ensure your devices are protected with strong, unique passwords or passcodes.  Enable two-factor authentication on your important accounts to add an extra layer of security, even if someone gains access to your device.

Use Strong Passwords and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Use antivirus and anti-malware software to prevent cyber threats. Make sure it's updated before your trip to ensure the latest protections are in place.  Consider installing a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to secure your internet connection, especially when using public Wi-Fi.

Install Security Software

Encrypt sensitive data on your device to make it unreadable to unauthorized users. Many smartphones, laptops, and tablets have built-in encryption options.  Backup important data before your trip, so if your device is lost or stolen, your information is safe.

Use Encryption

Public Wi-Fi networks are common travel spots for cybercriminals. If you must use them, avoid accessing sensitive accounts, such as online banking.  If you need to use public Wi-Fi, always connect through a VPN to secure your connection.

Avoid Public Wi-Fi (or Use with Caution)

Use physical locks, like laptop cable locks, and always keep your devices in your sight or securely stored when not in use.  Don’t leave your devices unattended in public places, and consider using RFID-blocking sleeves for credit cards and passports to prevent digital theft.
